FOR THE FUNEMPLOYED

I know that being unemployed is all the rage these days and we are now calling it "funemployed" but some of us still have to pay the bills one way or another.

While trying to decide what I should wear to my temp job interview I decided to look up what the latest office styles were. This led me to the following document entitled Dress for Success.

Highlights of the "TO DOs and DON'Ts"

Head - Neat Hairstyle - short, trim, and well-groomed hairstyles work better than long, messy ones. Wear light scented cologne.

Face - Shave! Avoid facial hair and the 5 o'clock shadow look.

Socks - Dark "dress socks" that match the slacks. Leave your gym socks at home!

Shoes - oxfords or loafers. Clean and polished please!

Suit - NO provocative and suggestive clothing. Skin-tight pants a no-no!

Notable Quotes

Add a short-sleeve collared shirt for a business casual look. No Hawaiian shirts!

Add a shirt with the season's latest color.

Best part is that you can use this wardrobe for other occasions - weddings, parties, and other social gatherings.

The best may be the photographic examples of what to wear.

CRASH THE SUPERBOWL!!! - WISHFUL CHOMPING

This past Saturday the Bento Productions team got back together to pull off another film production marathon. We filmed 8 commercials in the span of 2 days. Each of Derek Doi, Colter Freeman, Morgan Ahlborn and myself wrote and directed 2 commercials each with the intention of submitting the final products to the Doritos Crash The Superbowl Contest.

Today WISHFUL CHOMPING went up first with 7 more to come.

WISHFUL CHOMPING was directed by Derek Doi and is by far a Top 5 contender over the current uploaded videos.

By Top 5 I mean Doritos will be judging the submissions and will pick the top 5 to be considered to play during the Superbowl. After the top 5 are picked America will vote for their favorite and that 1 will be broadcast on national television. We will need your votes at that point but the top 5 pick and the voting won't happen until January 2009.

Until then enjoy the videos... I'll be posting all of them as they make their way up to the site from now until the deadline, Saturday at 10 PM Pacific Standard Time.

FLEETING ON YOUTUBE!

New to YouTube is my short film Fleeting.

My influences when making this film were the music of Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello as well as the german expressionist films of FW Murnau and the French New Wave films of Francois Truffaut. Specifically Murnau's silent feature Sunrise and Truffaut's short Love at 20.

For some of you it will be a revisiting of something I did a little while back. For others it will hopefully be an exciting discovery of awesomeness.

Rate it, share it and send some love my way.

Thanks!

DO YOUR BEST MURRAY"

IMG_7290, originally uploaded by skeet_on_empire.

It turns out that moments like those that Bill Murray's and Scarlett Johanson's characters enjoyed at the Tokyo karaoke joint in Lost In Translation can actually happen to you in real life. I'm not one to carry a note or stay in tune when I sing in my car alone and its not much different when I get on the mic with 7 of my closest friends in a slightly gamy karaoke room in Korea Town. However, I found that nobody has to be good at singing to enjoy a night of hamming it up with the mic like Bill Murray in lounge singer mode. Karaoke is fun!

If you are in LA check out Rosen

If you like vintage Bill Murray check this out.

If you didn't know this... Doug is writing for Defamer. Yes the original OC blogger is now getting paid $$$ for his blogging skills. Check out his first post here... BRET RATNER SUCKS!

If you don't know what I mean when I say "Do your best Murray" check this out... it's like this.
